Warranties

Returns are a necessary part of most businesses, and now they can be easily managed. With the Warranty feature You can:

  • Add a warranty to products
  • Sell a (paid or free) warranty as an add-on
  • Define the term/length of a warranty for each product
  • Define the cost of the warranty
  • Have multiple terms and costs for warranties on a single product
  • Give customers a way to request a warranty via form or within an order
  • Manage the warranty and return on your Store Manager dashboard

Default Warranty #

No warranty is the default. I.e., if you do not add a warranty to your product the same will not offer a warranty. So if you do not wish to offer a warranty to your product(s) you don’t need to configure this feature.

How to add a product Warranty #

  • Go to your Store Manager Dashboard
  • Click on the Products tab
  • Add a new product or edit an existing one
  • On the bottom of the product page, you will find diverse configurations, choose the Warranty tab.

Types of Warranties #

If you choose the default Product warranty (that is already set by default) the product will not offer any warranty. No Warranty is your product exactly as it is today. No warranty terms.

You may select two other options: the “Warranty included” and the “Warranty as Add-On”.

The warranty included is a type of warranty that you already include with the product, with no extra charge. This is great to gain the customers’ trust. Warranty Included allows you to include a warranty with your product at no additional cost. As a store owner, you can define the Warranty Length as Lifetime or Limited.

Lifetime warranties allow warranty requests for the life of the product sold.

Limited warranties allow you to define the warranty duration for the product. The duration can be in:

  • Days
  • Weeks
  • Months
  • Years

The Warranty as Add-On is a warranty offered to customers for an extra cost. If you select the “No Warranty Option” you will also offer to the customer the option to not to choose any warranty. (Please take note that if disabled, the “No Warranty Option”, the client can only purchase your product with a warranty with a extra charge.)

You can have unlimited add-on warranties added to a product. You simply set a price for the following terms:

  • Days
  • Weeks
  • Months
  • Years

How will the Buyer use the Warranty #

The buyer will be able to select the warranty when adding the product to the cart. The warranty will be available to the buyer once the buyer pays and receives the order (when the order is marked as shipped). At this time the buyer will see the “request warranty” option with his order.

Clicking on the “request warranty” the buyer will be redirected to a page when he can select the reason for the warranty.

After Buyer Request Warranty #

When a buyer submits a warranty request you’ll be notified as will the buyer. To check the warranty request go to your store manager dashboard> Orders> View Details> View Warranty Status. You will find this option below the Billing details on a green button. You will visualize the warranty details.

Once you have reviewed the warranty request, you can change the status of the order again if you are ready to. From here you can change the shipping details if you are going to send a replaced item or start a refund process in order to refund your buyer. Please check this post about refunds.

Note: You can add a shipping label for your customer to use for shipping the product back to you, or you can request a tracking code from your customer if you require them to do their own shipping. In order to do that please send a direct message to the SVM admin.
